You know what I love? Free all-ages shows. Especially when they’re with old friends. Especially when those old friends happen to be incontrovertible musical geniuses. Saturday June 5th I’ll be motoring up to NYC to play a show with my old pals Avery Brooks and Abe Pollack. Believe me when I say these guys are on a completely different wavelength than most and are no doubt planning up some wildly creative mind-melters.

The following Friday I’ll be back in the Chesapeake Bay Watershed to play a show with Future Folk Records superheroes Green Grocer and Brooklyn reverbatrician Invisible Circle. This show might get a little bit intense and maybe just maybe a little bit awesome.

The first show will be part of Arts in Bushwick‘s Open Studios Festival with the Way Out Collective at their nondenominational studio in Brooklyn. In addition to hosting the event, the collective will be serving free food and drinks. The second will be at Stacy’s Coffee Shop in Falls Church, VA. This coffee shop is also nondenominational, however they will require money for use of their sustenance accessories.

Note: You may remember Abe from our duo last year, Dracula Driveway. Why not use this as an opportunity to revisit some of our classic collaborations like this one and this one?

Sewing Machines and Green Grocer will not be playing the next show

I’m very sorry to announce that Sewing Machines and Green Grocer of Future Folk Records had to cancel their tour and will not be playing the show at Mayorga Coffee on Sunday, October 25. I’m currently looking around for another band or two to take their place, so if you’re a musician that would be interested in playing this show with us please feel free to contact me.

In album news, Swans will be going to the printers this week and I’ll have it ready for sale soon after. More info to come soon!

Next show: Swans Album Release @ Mayorga Coffee, Sunday 10/25

Hey everybody!

The first chance to get your very own copy of Swans will be at the official album release show at the end of October. I’ll be playing with some very good friends of mine from Chicago, Green Grocer and Sewing Machines. Both bands play some very much excellent and unique experimental folk. They’ll be on tour to support their new releases through Future Folk Records so be sure to come out and give them a warm welcome.

Joining us will be Lightfoot, which is the solo project of Jess Because of Vox Pop. Vox Pop are some fellow DC folkies with some great voices and twangy melodies. I’m excited to hear more of it and you should be too.

This show will be at Mayorga Coffee is just over the District line in Silver Spring, MD. This will be a FREE ALL AGES afternoon show starting at 4:30 PM.
